Liverpool won’t win the Premier League this season because they have Dejan Lovren, according to Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
Kovacic, on loan from Real Madrid, is part of a Chelsea team battling hard with the Reds to topple Manchester City from the top of the table.

Pep Guardiola’s side are two points clear of Liverpool at the apex, with Chelsea a further two behind the Anfield club.
Nevertheless, all three sides remain undefeated after 12 matches, and a real title race is expected following the disappointment of last season, when City romped their way to silverware with no challengers.
But only Chelsea or City will actually win the Premier League this season, Kovacic says.
Kovacic was joined by his Croatia team-mates at a foundation to raise money for charity, with a film shown to remember the nation’s run to this summer’s World Cup final.

However, after the film ended the jokes started.

“Liverpool will not be English champion,” he said. “Why? Well because they have Dejan Lovren.”

This is not the first time Lovren has been the subject of mockery this year, with the centre-half causing widespread derision when he called himself‘one of the best defenders in the world’ during the World Cup.
